Security cannot be imposed. It must be co-created with citizens. When people understand that their lives and livelihood depend on it, we stop pointing fingers and start sharing the work.
From his vision for the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, The Sun, November 2025

Agege, with very little
Ayodele Ogunsan grew up in Agege, Lagos, in what he calls an extremely poor background. From his first year of senior secondary school he organised tutorials for classmates and used the money to pay his own way.
His father, Engr. Akinola Ogunsan, served as an engineer in the Nigerian Air Force and later as a flight engineer with Nigeria Airways, and cared deeply about education. His mother, Madam Emiola Ogunsan, was a trader. Education and enterprise run through everything he has built since.
“I am glad that I was not born with a silver spoon.”

What he stands for
Drawn from his 2024 lecture in Doha on people-oriented policing and his plan for the Security Trust Fund.
Read his visionMove from enforcement-led policing to citizen-centred policing that closes the trust deficit. Officers who live and serve in their communities build trust and gather better intelligence.
Security is strongest when agencies, communities, infrastructure managers and businesses work as partners. The trust fund itself is a public-private model.
Data-driven, intelligence-led operations: CCTV, drones, citizen reporting tools and joint inter-agency command.
Stronger audits, regular performance reports and funding tied to outcomes, so that every naira given for security can be traced.
Mentorship, vocational training and anti-cult and anti-drug campaigns. He calls it the policing of love.
Campus security should be a strategic national priority, because a safe campus is one where students feel secure enough to dream and innovate.
